Home Tour: Grand Colonial
This full-scale remodel was such fun! Our clients wanted to go all out with darker, rich colors and were committed to maximizing the tremendous scale of their home. Needless to say, we were all for it!
This entry… breathtaking from every angle! From the vaulted ceiling to a peek of the living room, every layer of this entry is curated to welcome. Gone are the old-fashioned railings that cramped the staircase and dated the home; new iron railings instantly put the focus on the scale itself. Not being their primary entrance, our clients had the luxury of prizing aesthetics over functionality; so, we aimed for a tidy space without a hint of a landing zone.
Oh, the living room!! This lovely paneling once featured dark brown stain that dated the room and infused a persistent heaviness. Floor-to-ceiling white paint worked instant wonders, lifting the ceiling and gaining an abundance of light. Painted in SW Limewash, the traditional trim became the perfect gallery-like display for the homeowners’ pops of colorful, modern art.
This upstairs landing is a testament to the drastic transformation a little paint can work! Before we started, the heavy, dated stain on the desks and crown molding embarrassed the space. Repurposing these desks as bookshelves and refreshing them with a contemplative green infused much-needed character into a once forgotten space.
Dark, textured walls envelope this study for relaxing, reading, and coziness. Paired with worn leather couches that the couple already owned, this space is all at once a masculine and rich space to drink coffee in the morning or unwind in the afternoon.
Saturate, floor to ceiling green was the right call for this masculine office. An enveloping and strong place to get work done from home.
The kitchen design was a two- toned approach. The dark navy lower cabinetry anchors the space and keeps consistent with darker hues throughout the home, while the brighter upper cabinetry provides contrast and the airy feelings of a breezy, white kitchen up top. We love simplicity of the tailored, custom shades, too!
