Delaware Ave

A fun and social family with two beautiful young children hired my firm to honor their home’s 1937 historic style and to reimagine its modern-day use by incorporating the finest of elements, both from the past and present. A personalized remodel allowed them to fully embraced their new quaint neighborhood on one of the most sought after streets in downtown.

I convinced the homeowner to keep the existing marble fireplace surround and millwork, promising that these classic architectural elements would be cohesive to the modern design of the room. Replacing the outdated fixtures with modern sconces and integrating modern textiles completely transformed the tone of the space.

Incredible traditional elements of this home’s foyer sets the stage for the timeless elegance that fills the rest of the home. Original architectural pieces laid an enviable foundation for any designer to work with. We like to call it “eclectic meets traditional with a refined and elevated approach”.

Original floors & lighting were paired with new furnishings and window treatments to turn this dining room into an entertainer’s dream. The millwork around the ceiling contains old florescent lighting that we did not want to remove. In order to keep the original carpentry work intact. I selected a neutral toned wallpaper with a glimpse of shiny texture and covered the glass panels! I wanted to the detail to be timeless, and it turned out to be a focal point in this historic dining room.

We truly went the distance to adhere to the clients eclectic and traditional preferences, and everything paired together nicely. Although the stove area is a little tight, economizing here led to plenty of space for an island. The kitchen provided the perfect opportunity to meet the need for a more casual space.

A closer look…how could we part with these elements of deep character?
